Grab Your Cold and Flu Essential Oil Kit

We have mentioned the prevalence of colds and flu at this time of year before, but with so many bugs around it is indeed something worth going over again. Today we are going to share the five most vital oils to have in your home before you get sick and teach you how to use them safely to help you with healing and recover. There is nothing more miserable than a cold; you are expected to get on with life despite feeling utterly run down and entirely grotty. If you are unlucky enough to come down with a case of flu you might find yourself stuck in bed for a few days as it is nasty. So teach the family what to do with these fantastic five oils and create a healthy, healing atmosphere for you and your loved ones.

Which Five Oils Do You Need?

  • Lavender
  • Eucalyptus
  • Tea Tree
  • Sweet Orange
  • Frankincense

How Can You Use Them?

The easiest way to use this blend is to get it airborne. That means you can all breathe in their healing properties and hopefully speed up the natural healing process as they will give your immune system a much-needed boost and send extra strength to your illness battling white blood cells. The best way is to use an electric diffuser that you plug into the mains. Typically you will add the required amount of water, and then a few drops of each oil as shown in the two recipes below. The beautiful thing about these diffusers is they will automatically shut off once the water has been used up, so if you are managing to catch some sleep you stay safe. Candle diffusers are an alternative but really need to be used with care. The candle sits under the water reservoir, and again the drops of oil are added. However, this is potentially not so safe if you have animals and small children, so the burner needs to be placed safely out of reach. It is never advisable to use candles when there is a risk you will fall asleep, as they are obviously a fire hazard.

The Daily Blend for Bug Fighting

To be honest, we start using this before anyone is even sick. If you do get sick, then be sure to get this going as soon as possible. It is a great day blend and helps clean the air lessening the number of airborne germs.

To your diffuser water add:

5 drops of Tea Tree Oil

5 drops of Eucalyptus Oil

5 drops of Sweet Orange Oil

The Night Blend for Healing Sleep

Once night falls, we recommend changing the diffusers to this blend. If you set them up right before bed, you will find that they last most of the night then safely shut off when they are finished. The lavender in this blend helps the body into a relaxed state for sleep.

To your diffuser water add:

6 drops of Frankincense Oil

6 drops of Lavender Oil

6 drops of Eucalyptus Oil
